Joan E. Loos is a Certified Family Law Specialist and a Partner with Stegmeier, Gelbart, Schwartz & Benavente, LLP. She has been with the firm since 2008. She is a native of Newport Beach and is a graduate of Corona del Mar High School. Ms. Loos attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Entertainment Management in 1988.

She received her Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from Whittier Law School in 2006. In the same year, she became a member of the State Bar of California.

Ms. Loos serves as a board member of the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. She served on the Orange County Bar Association Family Law Section Executive Board from 2012 through 2018, serving as the Secretary/Treasurer in 2016, the Chair-Elect in 2017 and the Chair in 2018.

In 2013, Ms. Loos attended the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section’s prestigious Trial Advocacy Institute in Houston, Texas, which consists of a nationally renowned faculty of family law litigators, jurists, and forensic experts from across the country.

Prior to law school, Ms. Loos gained over ten years of valuable experience working for the Orange County Superior Court, where she invested most of her time as a family law courtroom clerk.

Ms. Loos has lectured to study groups on topics such as jurisdiction issues and Judgment enforcement, and has been a contributing author for the family law edition of the GPSolo magazine, a legal magazine published by the American Bar Association that is devoted to themes of critical importance to lawyers.
